vrt v februarju / our garden in February 2022
Lately my garden is a place where I can escape from listening and watching news from Ukraine. Here, in the garden or somewhere in nature peace and life take place in our minds. I was hoping that more spring flowers would bloom at the end of February, but unfortunately so far only the crocuses have bloomed.
Narcise so komaj pokukale iz zemlje, na mojem vrte sta le dva majhna cvetova.
The bulbs are starting to emerge. Most of the daffodils have barely peeked out of the ground, only two of them are blooming.
Sončni dnevi obljubljano več pomladanskega cvetja v naslednjem mesecu.
Sunny days are very promising, and we hope that we will be able to admire more spring flowers next month in the garden.
Compared to the garden, snowdrops and other wildflowers appear in abundance on the nearby meadow.
V lončke sem še posejala papriko in paradižnik. Obrezali smo tudi sadna drevesa. Vsako leto me malo skrbi, ali bo naša oljka preživela zimo.
The first works in the garden, cleaning, preparations, and plans for the coming season have begun. I've planted some peppers and tomatoes in the pots. We also pruned fruit trees. Every year, I'm worried whether our olive tree will survive the winter. So far it looks good. Maybe our cold winters don’t bother it at all?
This month I'm very pleased that we managed to get some fertile soil and arranged two new raised beds on our new piece of land. They’re quite big, but we have already a lot of ideas about what to plant there. Of course, it still takes a lot of work to arrange the place, but I am very happy with the progress we’ve made.
Tudi naši mački sta veseli toplejših dni.
Our cats are enjoying warmer days.
Your garden is springing to life!
ReplyDeleteWe have one raised bed for vegetables. It produces a great deal for such a small bed though.
Wonderful to see spring starting to bloom in these sad days 🇺🇦
ReplyDeleteIt's hard too keep away as the dreadful events are unfolding. Your new beds not great and I will be interesting to watch your plans come to fruition during the year. Amazing that your olive tree survives! Thank you for the support about the grey fencing- just off to carry on the painting! Take care hope your spring flowers soon emerge. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year when the first flowers begin to bloom.
ReplyDeleteMargi - I can only imagine how you must be feeling about Ukraine. Such a horrible situation, and the feeling of helplessness. I enjoyed seeing the spring flowers ... our temperatures are warming, but I think it is quite some time before we will see any color here!
ReplyDeleteYour cat looks like a cousin to our Thomas. (Also sadly following the Ukrainian news here)
ReplyDeleteI did have 10 years of Swiss winter - more than enough for me ;~) Olives are Mediterranean so perhaps okay with a colder winter, if they were growing on hills away from the coast.
Lovely collection of flowers, Margi. Nature causes therapeutic effect on our heart. Especially so when seeing nature reviving after going through onslaught of winter, Your cat can't wait spring?
