Mesečev zaliv in ušesa Istre / Moon Bay and Veli Badin rocks shelters
Last Sunday we went to the seaside to hike from Strunjan to Izola. First, we ascended along a well-maintained path above the Moon Bay. Here you can observe the sea, the bay, birds, sailboats…
Tam daleč se nad morjem dvigajo zasneženi hribi. In the distance snow-capped hills rise above the sea.
Pot nas vodi nad obalo vse do Izole, skozi nasade oljk, ki so jih ravno obrezovali.
The path led us above the beach all the way to Izola. We were walking through the olive groves, the trees had just been pruned.
In several places it is possible to descend to the beach, below the Strunjan cliff and walk along the seaside.
Na obali je bilo veliko meduz. There were quite a few jellyfish on the shore.
In the afternoon we realized that we still have quite a lot of time and we shouldn't return home too soon. Anyway, beautiful things pass quickly, so why should we hurry? We decided to spent the rest of the afternoon visiting Veli Badin. The small trip began above the village Sočerga near the church and after about an hour of walking, we reached the walls of Veli Badin, which are also called the Ears of Istria, as they resemble large elephant ears. The view is unique…
Although, I love winter, each year I can hardly wait for spring. Spring always brings new plans, new ideas… While driving home, my husband planned how he would rearrange our van, what he still has to do and where we will go. I enjoyed listening to him. I know I’m a working girl and I’m always running out of time, but I kept my fingers crossed that the ideas will come true.
The view in the third photo is quite wonderful as are they all. The elephant’s ears are a unique geological feature. How fortunate you are to be able to hike in this area.
