vrt v septembru / our garden in September 2021

Septembra cveti še veliko rož, med njimi je moja najljubša jesenska astra.
A lot of flowers are still blooming in September, among them is the autumn aster, my favourite flower this month.
V mnogih vrtovih še vedno lahko občudujemo cvetoče dalije. Sama jih sicer ne gojim, ker jih je potrebno spomladi posaditi in pozno jeseni spet izkopati, da jih ohranimo pred zmrzaljo. Trajnice so vsekakor veliko manj zahtevne.
Though the dahlias are still adorable in many gardens at this time of the year, I don’t grow them. They must be planted in the spring and should be dug out before the winter to preserve them from freezing. Perennial flowers are simply less demanding.
V tem času je vedno manj zrelih paradižnikov, paprike pa komaj dozorevajo.
Meanwhile, in the vegetable garden the tomatoes are decreasing their productivity, while the peppers are barely ripened.
Zimska zelenjava lepo raste.
The winter vegetables are doing well.
Še vedno iščem najboljši način, kako obdržati svežo baziliko tudi pozimi. Mogoče bom bolj uspešna pri Tajski baziliki?
We are still trying to find the best way to keep fresh basil during the winter. Maybe it will be easier to grow Thai basil indoors?
Zaradi toplih septembrskih dni lahko uživamo zrele fige.
The warm September is the main reason that we can enjoy figs these days.
Jesenski dnevi so kratki, večeri pa vedno daljši. Prav prijetno je zvečer malo posedeti pred hišo, opazovati igro svetlobe in senc ter jesti fige.
The autumn days are short and the evenings are getting longer. It's nice to spend some moments in the garden in the evenings, eating figs and watching the light playing with shadows.

  3. Your September garden is beautiful! I love your collection of asters they are wonderful at this time of year. Your vegetable garden looks amazing. we have not managed to have a very productive one this year. The kale we planted last week have been eaten by the slugs and snails, it can be so discouraging.

  4. Margi - truly wonderful Autumn photos. I could also smell the aroma of the tomatoes in the sun - nothing like it! The second to last photo is my favorite - so unique to see the light coming from the back - superb!

    1. Literally green moments. I had an idea to collect beautiful moments here, on the blog. Because I love nature, I started to write this blig. Do green moments sound weird in English?
