snowy hills

Our little valley is still green, there is no sign of snow anywhere, but if you glance towards the mountains, they are white and tempting. Yesterday afternoon we decided to visit Mt Matajur, but as soon as we got to the starting point, a winter scene from my imagination disappeared. Due to the strong wind almost all the snow was blown away.

Naša dolina je še vedno zelena in nikjer ni nič snega. Ko pa pogledam proti hribom, so njihovi vrhovi beli in vabljivi. Včeraj popoldne sva šla na Matajur. Že na parkirišču sem bila malo razočarana, saj sem pričakovala zimsko idilo, ki pa je ni bilo. Veter je namreč razpihal sneg iz hriba.

Anyway, the slopes were still white, and we ascended to the top. While we were waiting for the sunset, I was observing how the mountains became red. 

Po sicer še vedno belem pobočju sva se povzpela na vrh. Medtem ko sva čakala sončni zahod, sem opazovala, kako gore spreminjajo barvo.

Without any doubt, nature is an excellent artist as you can see from this pattern on church's windows.

Narava je gotovo najboljši umetnik. Tele ledene rože na oknu cerkvice so le še en dokaz.

It was freezing cold when the sun disappeared and we instantly ran downhill to our car. As soon as we got there, we realized that the battery in my car keys was low and we couldn't open the car door. After warming the key for a few minutes, we finally succeeded. It was such a relief; I couldn't imagine walking about twenty kilometres home along the lonely road at night.

Ko je sonce zašlo, je postalo zelo mraz, zato sva se takoj vrnila k avtu. Na parkirišči sva ugotovila, da je baterija v avtomobilskem ključu skoraj prazna. Potem, ko sva nekaj časa ogrevala ključ, sva končno uspela odpreti vrata. Kakšno olajšanj! Ne predstavljam si, da ni morala še kakšnih 20 km ponoči hoditi po samotni cesti.
