pozdravček iz Finske / greetings from Finland

Študentje so že dva tedna na univerzah.

Srečali so kar nekaj severnih jelenov in le malo drugih pohodnikov. Spali so v majhnih lesenih kočah.

Mene sta dežela in zgodba o njej totalno očarali. To, da si tam sredi narave, daleč od naglice in natrpanega vsakdanjika. Definitivno, Finska gre na moj seznam želja.

Students have been away at universities for two weeks. Due to unoptimistic coronavirus predictions, they are already afraid that they would have to return home and study online. I must admit that parents also prefer students studying at universities. We feel like we are trapped and it's even worse for the youths. But it's not the same everywhere.

My older son is on Erasmus programme in Finland. Even though the situation there is not so critical, they must follow the preventive measures, but they are allowed to move all over the country.

He often sends us some pictures on messenger, but he wouldn't write some sentences for my blog despite my frequent requests. So, this is his story written by me. Although, the pictures are not high quality, I think they should be published. All of  the pictures are of Lapland, where he went about two weeks ago, except the first one which represents Helsinki at night. He and his friends started hiking from the tripoint of Finland, Norway and Sweden. They were walking for three days along extensive landscape with hills, lakes, snow and reddish grass. They met some reindeers and only a few hikers. They slept in small wooden huts and managed to see aurora, which is a special adventure.

I'm totally impressed by the county and his story. It's a privilege to be far away from rush and busy everyday life. So, it goes on my bucket list.

  11. That is indeed quite an adventure and looks like a good one to have now as it appears quite isolated!! Lucky him on the aurora. I've been to Finland twice and Norway chasing it and seen only slight ones or grey ones. Not the full blown green that you see in the photos!
