stories from my garden, August 2025

August is a month full of mixed feelings — lots of joy from harvesting the crops and a little sadness because summer is coming to an end. This year, I’m really happy and excited because we had a huge amount of tomatoes. In fact, the whole month is about tomatoes, harvesting and preserving them.

Avgust je tak mesec z mešanimi občutki, veliko veselja zaradi pobiranja pridelkov in malo žalosti, ker se poletje počasi končuje. Letos sem res vesela in čisto navdušena, saj smo imeli ogromno paradižnika. Pravzaprav se cel mesec vrti okoli paradižnika, okoli pobiranja in shranjevanja.

This year, we also had some watermelons and melons. We picked the first apples and planted winter lettuces.

Letos smo imeli tudi nekaj lubenic in melon. Pobrali smo prva jabolka in posadili zimske solate.

August is the month when dahlias, anemones, and gauras bloom.

Avgust je mesec, ko cvetijo dalije, anemone in gavre.

And we also got five ladies. Aren’t they beautiful?

Pa še dobili smo pet gospodičen. A niso lepe?
