stories from my garden, April 2024

April brough sunshine and rain showers and bees and flowers and a lot of work in the garden. The apple trees are currently blooming, and we can observe the dark flowers of the asimina and the tiny blossoms of the aronia. The cherry tree has already small green fruits, and strawberries are promising a lot.

April je prinesel sonce, nevihte, čebele in rože in veliko dela na vrtu. Tam trenutno cvetijo jablane, lahko opazujemo temne cvetove asimine in drobceno cvetje aronije. Češnja že ima zelene plodove, tudi cvetoče jagode veliko obetajo. 

We have already planted some vegetables. Our cat is keeping an eye on the seedlings. In addition to the seedlings, there are many winter vegetables in the greenhouse, but soon it will be time to plant tomatoes. This year I'm a bit worried; my seedlings are growing really slow.

Posadili smo že veliko zelenjave. Naša mačka čuva sadike v rastlinjaku. Poleg sadik je tam še veliko zimske zelenjave, čeprav bo kmalu čas, da posadimo paradižnik. Letos sem malo zaskrbljena, saj sadike rastejo res zelo počasi.

Lemons are just awesome, they look great, and they smell even better, especially when they're blooming. I grow them in pots so I can drag them inside when it gets cold.
Limoni so res nekaj posebnega. Lepi so, dišijo pa še lepše, še posebej med cvetenjem. Moji so v loncih, da jih lahko pozimi prenesem na toplo.

The thyme smells lovely to me and the bees as well.

Tako jaz kot čebele obožujemo vonj materine dušice.
